What we do

What do we do? WE HAVE FUN!

The members of Candyrapper have been dancing together since 1999, and we have officially been a performance team since September 2000. We currently have fourteen members, two of whom also are our musicians. Each of our dances lasts about five minutes, and often includes figures with stepdancing and front or back flips.

We dance at festivals, concerts, folk dances, or any event where people appreciate traditional arts. Click here to see a list of our upcoming events. We can also be seen dancing with our umbrella team, Great Meadows Morris & Sword.

Rapper is performed by five dancers at a time, each holding a double-handled flexible steel sword. We dance to jig music (6/8 time), provided by our wonderful fiddlers, Amelia and Natty. Each dance consists of a number of figures in which the dancers weave intricate patterns around each other, without ever letting go of the swords.
